Earth Day and Closing Weekend Festivities

Happy Closing Weekend Breckenridge!

It's been a hell of a season, and while we didn't always get the perfect snow we so very wanted, we managed to have a good bit of fun anyway.

To put the frothy head on the beer, as they say, Broken Compass is sending the season off with a bang this weekend with all sorts of events you don't want to miss.

Live Music

Peak2Peak Closing Weekend.jpg

Our favorite Grateful Dead cover band, Peak2Peak is back in the taproom busting out two separate sets on both Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd. Saturday's later evening set will run from approximately 7-10 PM, while Sunday's affair kicks off at 5 PM to give you time to make it down the mountain, kick off those ski boots and put your dancin' shoes on.

Earth Day Specialty Tapping

Makin Noise Earth Day Release.jpeg

As a part of our Earth Day celebrations, we're thrilled to be a part of the latest Makin Noise beer release. Along with four other breweries - Storm Peak Brewing, Baere Brewing, Fermaentra Brewery and Renegade Brewing - we brewed a Belgian ale with the same Westmalle yeast strain. Other than the yeast, the beers are entirely different, and each brewery is donating $1 from each pour to a local environmental organization of their choice. Our talented brew squad whipped up a delicious Summer Saison for the occasion, which we will tap on Sunday and donate a portion of each pint to the Friends of the Dillons Ranger District! This wonderful organization has endless positive impact on our community and local environment by maintaining and improving trails, caring for the flora of Summit County and educating forest visitors.

Earth Day Tie-Dye Tees

For the first time every, we're selling long sought after tie-dye Broken Compass T-shirts! These shirts are organic cotton, sourced and sewn in the US, dyed by a local artist, printed by a local screen printing company and extremely limited, with only 60 available. Priced at $25, we're donating $5 from each shirt sale to charity.

Earth Day Pub Crawl

Join us for the 2nd Annual Earth Day Pub crawl, picking up trash all across town the best way we know how: with frequent and refreshing stops for beer. The crawl kicks off at 3 PM at Breck Brew Pub and continues all the way to Broken Compass, with stops along the way at Kenosha SteakhouseThe Canteen-Tap House And Tavern and Breckenridge Distillery! Drink tickets will be handed out for a free drink at each location, and prizes for best trash pick up finds will be handed out!

Earth Day Vegetarian Themed Monday Night Potluck

You never thought you'd see the day, but it's finally here. That's right, we're holding a Vegetarian Themed Monday Night Potluck in honor of Earth Day. Help us reduce our footprint by going meatless for a night at our weekly potluck, so bust out those veggies and a big appetite and bring a delicious dish to share! You may win free beer and growlers if your veggies out-veggie everyone else's veggies.

Special Releases For CO Craft Beer Week

Colorado Craft Beer week is around the corner, and we're celebrating with a week full of specialty releases to celebrate the occasion! The week officially kicks off on Saturday, March 31st with Collab Fest 2018 in Denver. One of the coolest fests around, this unique affair features more than 100 unique and never-before-brewed beers and more than 200 breweries! If you can't make it to the fest, come visit our taproom all week starting Monday, April 2nd, to taste all of our collabs and specialty releases (actually, just do that anyway, it's a no-brainer)! Here's a glance at what we're tapping:

Monday, April 2nd
SCUBA Gin-U-Wine

CO Pint Cay banner.png

Put 15 brewers in one room and this is the unique result. Plus, this year's Summit County United Brewers Alliance (SCUBA) collaboration brew includes Breckenridge Distillery for the first time ever! A big, beautiful 8.3% ABV wheat wine fermented with a Norwegian farmhouse yeast and infused with herbs and botanicals from the Breck Distillery's delicious gin. Slightly sweet booziness, followed by a tangy kiss of fruit and the light touch of pine and herbs. It's as rare and fleeting as they come so get it while you can!

Monday Night Potluck - Cook With A Beer Theme!

What better than food and beer side by side? Food and beer mixed together, of course! There's no finer way to spice up your cooking chops than by mixing in some delicious brews. This week's Monday Night Potluck theme embraces that, as we celebrate Colorado Craft Beer week by using that delicious liquid to concoct the most delicious potluck dishes. Use Broken Compass beer, or another brewery's beer or hell, even that stale Coors Banquet that's been sitting in the backseat of your car since ski season started. If you can't cook with beer, that's fine too! Just make something delicious. As always, winners will receive free growlers and beers!

Tuesday, April 3
Raspberry Hefeweizen

Need we say more? Our delicious Hefe is back, bursting full of those bold fruity notes and creamy body. And on this special occasion we're pureeing fresh raspberries to complement the base beer.

Wednesday, April 4 - Colorado Pint Day!
Centennial IPA

CO Pint Day poster.jpg

To celebrate Colorado Pint Day we're tapping our first ever single hop IPA! This light bodied IPA is brewed with delicious and dynamic Centennial hops and a light grain bill to allow the hops to shine through with lovely hints of citrus, grapefruit and a light pine touch. To benefit the Colorado Brewers Guild, we're selling an extremely limited edition of this new IPA in specialty glasses, with $1 per pint purchased going to the Guild, while the customer (you, hopefully!) gets to keep the glass!

Thursday, April 5
TKB10K Baltic Porter

Another incredibly rare beer, outpaced in its rarity only by its delectability (did we just use delectability in a sentence? Look at us!). This porter comes to us courtesy of our head brewery Brandon Smith and his former employer Tommyknocker Brewery. For their 10,000th(!) ever brew, TKB brought in brewers past and present to create this beautiful Baltic Porter. Deeply roasty, smooth and malty sweet, it's a true feat of brewing that we're thrilled to be able to share with our customers.

Friday, April 6
Pinky's Out Table Manners Belgian Style Table Beer

westfax collab.JPG

Closing out the week is our collab with Westfax Brewing Co. in Denver, which we'll also be serving at Collab Fest on March 31st. This light, sessionable, low alcohol beer was traditionally enjoyed by adults and children at meals. The modest grain bill and hopping allows the expressive yeast to really shine, while the use of Summer and Enigma hops and post-fermentation spicing with pink peppercorns, add a pleasant sweet and spicy notes that should complement the yeast and fruity hops.

Meet Theodore

Meet Theodore

Meet Theodore, our beloved brewery rabbit and unofficial brewery mascot!

Theo likes to spend his days eating spent grain from our brew days, lounging in the sun, hopping around the parking lot and sipping on our Czech Pilsner. Please watch out for Mr. Theodore when driving around Broken Compass, particularly in the back, as he has been known to play a mean game of chicken with oncoming cars. And while he's fast and strong, Theo vs. a car does not end well for Theo.

Good ole Theo is having a blast rampaging around by himself, but if you know of any single and ready to mingle female rabbits on the market, Theo is looking for a pal to hang out and have a beer with!

March Giving Tap at Apres Handcrafted Libations

You love the environment. We love the environment. You love craft beer. We love craft beer. Look at all those shared passions!

We're tying those two together with a March fundraiser for High Country Conservation Center (HC3), one of our favorite nonprofit organizations in Summit County, with a focus on promoting practical solutions for waste reduction and resource conservation in Summit County.

For the entire month of March, we're donating kegs to Apres Handcrafted Libations for a designated March Giving Tap, where 10 percent of proceeds from every beer poured on that tap will be donated to HC3. All month, you'll find a variety of our beers on tap at Apres, including fan favorites like our IPA, Ginger Pale Ale and Coconut Porter.

Apres Tiki Tuesday Luau.jpg

To finish off the month of fundraising, Apres is hosting a Tiki Tuesday Luau on March 27th from 5-9 PM. Dust off your island attire and join us for a night of tiki inspired cocktails and a rare outside our taproom tapping of our Coconut Porter. Ten percent of Broken Compass and cocktail sales fro the evening will be donated to HC3.

Bamboo Ski Pole Build, Brews and Live Music

Join us for a special MLK weekend Sunday afternoon at Broken Compass on Jan. 15th.

Get your drank on with us and Grass Sticks, an amazing company out of Steamboat Springs that builds custom ski poles (and SUP paddles) out of bamboo. Which, if you were previously unaware, not only provides a massive performance upgrade from your traditional carbon fiber and aluminum ski poles in terms of flexibility and strength, but also provides a massive upgrade in our beloved realm of sustainability.

You can join the 'boo club soon! Grass Sticks will be helping you build your own custom bamboo ski poles from 1-8 PM at our taproom this Sunday, for just $89 plus buy one get one free beers! If you're presently full of poles and don't need any (yet, until those aluminum poles crease or break), come by and snag a beer while you take in the process, it's a joy to watch (and really, what isn't when you have a delicious brew in hand).

Also, our weekly Acoustic Sunday set is pumping out the jams from 6-8 PM Sunday night, when Lance Swearengin graces the metaphorical stage and graces your non-metaphorical ears with groovy tunes.

So enjoy your extra day off this weekend and celebrate with us at Broken Compass!

NYE Bash and Concerto

New Year's Eve is around the corner and we really don't want you to spend it lonely at home, drinking a watery glass of cheap champagne and watching a silly ball drop on your TV.

Instead, how about you join us at Broken Compass for our fourth straight Sequins and Sorels NYE Bash? Throw on your most ludicrous, spangliest, abrasive looking outfits and come on down to Broken Compass for a day and night of specialty beer tappings and incredible live music!

We're welcoming Chicago based band Sneezy to the taproom, who will be rocking out the jams from 8 PM into the new year with their funky blend of rock, reggae, pop and hip hop. Make sure to wear your dancing shoes, because this six-piece band is as groovy as they come.

If you're looking for specialty beer tappings, you're in the right place as well. We're tapping a Golden Sour aged on fruit that is rarely seen 'round these parts!

Finally, be safe and don't drive if you plan on drinking! We're running our free shuttle to and from the brewery all afternoon and ALL NIGHT, so please utilize that service and don't drive!
