NYE Bash and Concerto

New Year's Eve is around the corner and we really don't want you to spend it lonely at home, drinking a watery glass of cheap champagne and watching a silly ball drop on your TV.

Instead, how about you join us at Broken Compass for our fourth straight Sequins and Sorels NYE Bash? Throw on your most ludicrous, spangliest, abrasive looking outfits and come on down to Broken Compass for a day and night of specialty beer tappings and incredible live music!

We're welcoming Chicago based band Sneezy to the taproom, who will be rocking out the jams from 8 PM into the new year with their funky blend of rock, reggae, pop and hip hop. Make sure to wear your dancing shoes, because this six-piece band is as groovy as they come.

If you're looking for specialty beer tappings, you're in the right place as well. We're tapping a Golden Sour aged on fruit that is rarely seen 'round these parts!

Finally, be safe and don't drive if you plan on drinking! We're running our free shuttle to and from the brewery all afternoon and ALL NIGHT, so please utilize that service and don't drive!

First Ever Broken Compass LostOberfest To Be Held Saturday!

22540243_1589943657711373_4020751116944064317_n.jpg

Broken Compass Brewing isn’t satisfied throwing just one anniversary party every year. We had so much fun at our third anniversary party in May, we’re doing it all over again six months later - Oktoberfest style!

Join us Saturday, Oct. 28th for the first ever Broken Compass LostOberfest, another little offseason shindig we’re hosting to say a huge “thank you” to the people of Breckenridge, Summit County and all over Colorado/the world that have helped make the brewery what it is today.

You know what that means: free food - 75 free breakfast burritos for the first customers to buy beer and delicious brats hot off the grill at 1 PM - free and awesome live music, specialty beer tappings, human and dog costume contests and much more!

In Broken Compass tradition, we will continue our annual Dog-O-Ween, an always-entertaining costume contest for our four legged friends, as well as incorporate human costume contests throughout the day. We’re kicking off the costume festivities with the first Dog-O-Ween judging at noon, followed by another at 2 PM. The human costume contests will follow, with a group costume competition taking place at 3 PM and the final individual contest to take place at 7 PM. We are encouraging a $5 donation for each human and pup that enters the competitions so we can help give back to the community. All proceeds from the contests will be donated to the Summit County Animal Shelter, and prizes will be awarded to each competition’s champion! Prizes will include Broken Compass merch, gift cards and coupons to the Dog House.

For the first time ever, we are also hosting a cornhole tournament throughout the party, which will also benefit the Summit County Animal Shelter! Make sure you pre register for this 16-team, single elimination tourney, because it’s sure to fill up fast. Registration is $25 per two person team, and again, all proceeds go to the shelter! The tournament will begin at 1 PM and continue until we have a champion, who will earn themselves bragging rights and a $100 Broken Compass gift card!

And last but not certainly not least, we’re supporting the Red, White and Blue Combat Challenge Team, a collection of our fine firefighters at the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District who will be competing in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge in Louisville, KY this week! We’re donating the proceeds from all LostOberfest sales of our deliciously fiery Chili Pepper Pale Ale to the firefighters, as well as taking cash donations in jars throughout the taproom on the day of the party, so get your spice on!

All day long you’ll be serenaded by awesome live music, kicking off at 12 PM when Those Austrian Guys take the stage! The Austrians will be followed by a repeat performer from our second anniversary party, The Hollywood Farmers, from 2-4:30 PM. The So What Brothers are closing out the evenings jams with a rollicking, three hour set from 5-8 PM. And as always, DJ Crisp will be emceeing the entire event.

The free food will be served around 1 PM, with enough brats from our pals at Prost to feed around 400 hungry partygoers! Once we’ve exhausted those supplies, 5 Star Catering and Fifth Avenue Grill will also be offering Oktoberfest-style grub throughout the day at a food tent on site.

And finally, the beer! In addition to our standard 13 taps, we’ll be tapping five specialty brews during the party, starting at 11 AM when we tap our first ever Oktoberfest Marzen! We’ll then tap a new brew every two hours. The Marzen will be followed by (in order): Fruit Basket Stout (our stout fermented in a single malt bourbon barrel on cranberries, raspberries, apricots and cherries) at 1 PM, The Elvis (finally back! A peanut butter banana Hefeweizen) at 3 PM, a Curry Coconut Porter at 5 PM and finishing off with a Port Barrel Aged Imperial Brown at 7 PM!

We can’t wait for this smorgasbord of incredible activities, food and beers! Clear you calendars for Oct. 28th and get yourself down to Broken Compass, and make sure to check back often for more updates prior to the party!

Broken Compass Trivia Tournament Returns!

Trivia and beer lovers rejoice, the most anticipated event of the year (or at the very least the offseason) is making a return to the Broken Compass taproom this week!

This coming Tuesday, Oct. 17th, our latest edition of the Broken Compass Tuesday Night Trivia Tourney will kick off at 7 PM. Many of the rules and prizes are similar to last year's tournament, with a few slight differences to both.

Rules and Regulations

- Tournament lasts six weeks (Oct. 17th, 24th, 31st, Nov. 7th, 14th, 21st)
- No more than five participants per team, per week
- Minimum of two permanent team members representing that team in a given week
- No cell phones
- Must hold a beer in hand at all times (just kidding)

Now for the fun part:

Prizes!

1st Place: Our winning trivia team will once again have the opportunity to craft their own Broken Compass beer, working with our brew team from the recipe creation to the brewing process, and culminating in a specialty release in our taproom for their own handcrafted beer!

2nd Place: Rare barrel tastings and a pizza party at the brewery! There's nothing quite as satisfying as slamming a nail in a barrel and watching smooth, delicious barrel aged beer trickle out.

3rd Place: Basket-o-swag: Broken Compass has the coolest swag in the land, and it could all be yours.

Everyone else: You get to play trivia at Broken Compass every week!

As always, if you desire to play weekly trivia, there's no requirement to participate in the tournament and you can still win weekly gift card prizes! We're looking forward to once again seeing the intelligence of our trivia contestants, so put on your drinking caps and join us this coming Tuesday, Oct. 17th, at 7 PM for the greatest trivia in all the land!

Who Said Mud Season Sucks?

Certainly not us at Broken Compass, where we do our damnedest to make your mud season and our mud season some of the best times of the year.

The highlight of the fall offseason will be the first ever

Broken Compass LostOberfest

(not lobsterfest, there will be no lobsters) on Oct. 28th! As a thank you to all of our fans and patrons, we're throwing a massive party that's essentially a combination of our anniversary parties (ask anyone who's attended how much fun they had. Every answer: all of the fun) and an Oktoberfest party. There will be live music all day long, free sausages and sides for 400-500 people, specialty beer tappings, both dog and human costume contests, potentially a cornhole tournament and much, much more! Mark your calendars, you won't want to miss this town party.

Other Notable Events You Should Probably (Definitely) Not Miss

Great American Beer Festival (Oct. 5-8, Denver): For the second straight year, we're pouring in the Meet the Brewer section of GABF! Come pay us a visit and try some of our delectable and award winning brews, and cross your fingers for more hardware coming back to the mountains!

SCUBA (Summit County United Brewers Alliance) Tap Takeover (Oct. 4, Southside Bar Kitchen, Denver): To kick off the Great American Beer Fest festivities, all the Summit County breweries are hosting a tap takeover on Wednesday night at Southside Bar Kitchen on Colfax in Denver. We're all bringing down some of our classic and specialty brews to for the evening. Take this opportunity to get some of the best beers you can find in the mountains on the front range!

Chocolate Pumpkin Pie Stout release: Every fall, we tap this Chocolate Pumpkin Pie Stout. Every year, people lose their fucking minds over it. We brewed it yesterday (Sept. 25). It will almost certainly be tapped as our One Off Wednesday special release on Oct. 11th. You want this beer. You need this beer.

LostOberfest Märzen: To help celebrate or first ever LostOberfest throw down, we've brewed our first ever German style Marzen that is lagering away as we speak! Look for it to be on time sometime in early October.

Pumpkin Themed Monday Night Potluck (Oct. 16th, 7 PM): It wouldn't be a proper October without a proper pumpkin-flavored feast at the Broken Compass Monday Night Potluck. Bring a pumpkin-inspired dish (or honestly, whatever dish you want to eat and share, pumpkins be damned) and win free growlers and beer! Potluck starts at 7 PM.

Halloween Themed Monday Night Potluck and Tuesday Night Trivia (Oct. 30th & 31st, 7 PM): Join us for special editions of our weekly events, where costumes win you bonus points and bonus points win you prizes! More details forthcoming.

Broken Compass Staff Chili Cookoff (Nov. 6th, 7 PM)For the second year in a row, come on down for our staff chili cookout, where we take our normal Monday Night Potluck and twist it on its head - this time, we're cooking for you! Come sample all our staffs chilis and vote for your favorite and least favorites (undoubtedly Lyndsey's). Don't worry about bringing any food (ok, you can bring a side if you want), we're hosting this event as another way to say thanks to our regulars and regular potluckers!

Keep an eye out for more fun events as they come up, and make your mud season the least muddy possible!
