Monday Night Potluck Returns with a Pumpkin Themed Potluck!

After an extended summer hiatus, the legendary Monday Night Potlucks are making a grand comeback for the winter season.

Beginning this Monday, Oct. 29, from 7-9 PM, we’ll kick off this rollicking community event that includes almost more fun, food and camaraderie than one person can stomach. But not quite.

Since it’s been a while, here’s a refresher on the prizes and general guidelines for our weekly potlucks:

Bring a dish! You don’t have to bring a dish to eat, but you’ll get to eat first if you do. And if you don’t, you will be seriously shamed.

This week’s potluck will be pumpkin themed. You can still bring a non-pumpkin related dish, if you feel like it. We’re not that strict.

Come with an appetite! There is almost always lots of delicious grub in the house, and we want you to try a bit of everything. Why? Because at the end of the night you’ll vote for your three favorite dishes and the top three vote getters will receive a 64 oz. growler and fill, a 32 oz. growler and fill and a free pint, respectably. All we ask is that you vote fairly and responsibly (no matter how much you love your friends, that five minute spaghetti is gross) for whatever pleased your palate the most.

Get those aprons ironed, slow cookers cookie’ and recipes cracklin’, we’ll see you at 7 PM on Monday!

Goodbye Rob, We Love You

Goodbye Rob, We Love You

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our beloved brewer, Rob O. Wallace, is departing Broken Compass and Colorado for new adventures in the Smoky Mountains.

Rob has spent nearly the last two years bringing an incredible energy to Broken Compass. His always-present enthusiasm made this place a better place to work for everyone involved, and in turn a better place to hang out for everyone who loves our beer. That beautiful mane of hair and beard, the boisterous laugh, those sexy thighs that saw way more daylight than they should have due to those short khaki shorts…it brightened all of our days. Except for the time when he shaved his beard into a truly disturbing mustache for his ski pass picture. That time was truly the worst, and we wouldn’t wish that sight on anyone.

But creepy mustache or no creepy mustache, the man knew how to brew a damn fine pint. Along with our resident head brewer Brandon Smith, Rob brought the people countless delicious brews over the last two years. His creativity in the brewery and the barrel house kept our tap list fresh and all of our palates pleased. We’re sad to see Rob go, and he will be sorely missed. But we’re also thrilled that the good people of Knoxville, TN, will get to share the fruits of Rob’s talents and labor, and can’t wait to see the awesome things that he will accomplish in the Smokies. Plus, we’re just going to send him sweet skiing pictures and videos to make him jealous until he has to move back.

Rob, we love you bud.

The Week From IPA Heaven

It's a fine time to be a hop lover in the mountains of Breckenridge.

We're loading up our IPA lineup this week, with four of our finest India Pale Ales taking the stage as we roll into the dog days of August.

Our brand new Rooster Tail IPA is still on tap and settling into its delicious form. With the same recipe as our original IPA but with a new hopping technique that brings out a more hop-forward, grapefruit citrusy final product, it's a thing of beauty.

A new batch of our Double IPA comes on tap this week as well, highlighted by a rare and juicy Grapefruit DIPA tapping on Wednesday, August 1st for on weekly one off. This special release will go fast and won't be on tap very often, so make sure to get those taste buds on it while you can.

The barrel aged, double dry hopped LolliHop IPA is back again, bursting out of the barrel with a complex flavor that boasts unique dry hop combinations for each keg on tap.

And finally, our brand spankin' new IPA is an homage to brewer Rob O. Wallace's southern roots. The Southern Exposure IPA is a tasty treat, packed with tropical hop notes and finishing with a light, clean bitterness that will leave your palate crying out for more. It's a summer IPA that won't want to be put down.

Hop on down to the brewery and get those taste buds tinglin'!
